ARNHEM MUNICIPALITY
RECONSTRUCTION OF THE RIJNKADE, ARNHEM

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE RIJNKADE, ARNHEM
The reconstruction of the Rijnkade is one of the largest inner-city projects undertaken by the Municipality of Arnhem in recent years. The quay faced a dual challenge: improving flood protection while enhancing the quality of the public space.
The aim was to make the Rijnkade more attractive for residents, businesses and visitors. More space was needed for leisure and walking, better connections with the city centre, and above all, greater emphasis on greenery.
For the redevelopment of the Rijnkade, Furns supplied 45 corten steel planters. These contribute to a green and welcoming public space along the River Rhine. Thanks to the distinctive appearance of corten steel, the planters perfectly complement the robust character of the quay.
The durable material choice, long service life and minimal maintenance requirements make the planters particularly suitable for an intensively used public space. In this way, the planters enhance the green character of the renewed Rijnkade and contribute to an attractive environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
